Spree II
, 2018
Acrylic, coloured pencil, graphite, marble dust, linen canvas
26 x 34 cm
A shiny surface in grey tones, shaped by innumerable tiny elevations and depressions. The real context is divulged only by
the title of the painting, which portrays a section of the river Spree, reproduced in an almost photorealistic manner. At
the same time, Jelena Bulajić (*1990, Vrbas, RS) has created a composition that verges on abstraction, even while remaining
faithful to the patterns and rhythms of water and the sky it reflects, the apparent solidity of which may even remind the
viewer of mountain ranges. The diversity of materials used certainly opens up a new world altogether.
